A culture of seeking “more”

A common theme in our culture is to consistently seek “more.” For example, if someone engages in something that 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥, they may go in for more-and-more, only to tip the scale from feeling awesome into experiencing overwhelm, forgetting to walk the path of integration.

Have you experienced this before?

𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘸𝘦’𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥. Reverence and gratitude for what’s been received is often overlooked by the addictive culture we live in, where we forget to savor “what is.”

I see this trend in:
⚡ Medicine Ceremony - where one gains clarity, a sense of purpose, yet they become enthralled by the “seeing” and keep using the substance more without actually integrating the lessons into their daily life.
⚡ Resolving Conflict - when harmony is reached between loved ones, only to then excavate for more, disintegrating the harmony that they’ve already created. (See “The Alchemy of Forgiveness” video on my YouTube for insight).
⚡ Cleansing - when people start to feel good from a change of diet, and then become obsessive to the point of deregulating their nervous system and throwing their body out of whack again. (For a balancing, positive-habit-forming cleanse without the “backlash” try the @kitchari_cleanse).

You get the idea. People get “high” on whatever experience they’ve been granted and they keep pushing for more. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 - 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦; always wanting more, never enough.

As someone dedicated to a path of healing, it has become increasingly clear to me that the small choices we make on a day-to-day basis are often more important than the big-shebang💥 (although I do like a good party 🎉). Intense, sometimes hard-to-integrate experiences DO serve their time and purpose; they are exciting, reignite our spirit, and can connect us with soul purpose (YAY!); yet they need to be integrated with reverence. Otherwise, they will not sustain us in the long run.

It is our duty to celebrate and then give thanks by integrating the blessings that we’ve received.
